If selecting a custom installation, the installer freezes several times while selecting/deselecting components to add/remove.

That’s a real bad user experience.

I have seen this behaviour, but seems to works much better with the recent beta2.

Therefore NEEDINFO:
@Olivier: Is it possible for you to retest with current beta 2? Release candidate 1 will be release VERY soon; maybe you can wait until then... (just a proposal; you also can try beta 2 off course!)

I tried this release yesterday:

It froze less, but it still froze a little, mainly at first just after opening the first options menu to open, as if it was performing a huge task.

Rc1, XP, I've recorded the Custom install process and procedes smootly. To be sincere the very first time I tried I had a 1-2 second lag when I selected "Custom", but the rest was fast as in the movie attached.
This is a KVM VM without great performances
