Description John 2012-12-29 08:58:25 UTC
On the same hardware but with ubuntu 12.04 I could select every resolution I liked, including 1080p and 720p (widescreen resolutions). Since I'm using ubuntu 12.10 I can only select 800*600 and 1024*800.

The full bug description and log files are at:

Comment 1 Chris Wilson 2012-12-29 13:31:20 UTC
The log files are incomplete. Please attach dmesg (with drm.debug=6 appended to the kernel commandline), Xorg.log and xrandr.
Comment 2 John 2012-12-29 18:29:25 UTC
Requested files are added to launchpad to keep al files together. Please let me know if you need more information.
Comment 3 Chris Wilson 2012-12-29 18:33:17 UTC
The dmesg is from too late in the boot sequence, all the important information about the failure to read the VGA EDID is lost.
Comment 4 John 2012-12-31 21:22:06 UTC
My mistake, I've included both the current en previous dmesg log on launchpad: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1074844
Comment 5 John 2012-12-31 21:28:00 UTC
For clearity the last boot sequence was with a connected screen using a VGA cable.
Comment 6 Daniel Vetter 2013-01-07 14:54:12 UTC
Can you please also attach a dmesg with drm.debug=0xe from the old (working) kernel. Also, please attach all the files here, since it's a bit a pain to hunt down random files (more so when they lack descriptions of the test-setup, which we can't fix on other bugzillas ...).

Apparently the VGA connector is simply not there ...
Comment 7 Chris Wilson 2013-02-22 14:03:19 UTC
That is quite puzzling, even with bitbanging we fail to read the EDID. Can you please also grab a drm.debug=6 dmesg with ubuntu 12.04?
Comment 8 Daniel Vetter 2013-04-08 10:22:26 UTC
Ping for the requested debug info.
Comment 9 Chris Wilson 2013-08-11 12:20:01 UTC
Timeout.
