On the same hardware but with ubuntu 12.04 I could select every resolution I liked, including 1080p and 720p (widescreen resolutions). Since I'm using ubuntu 12.10 I can only select 800*600 and 1024*800. The full bug description and log files are at: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1074844
The log files are incomplete. Please attach dmesg (with drm.debug=6 appended to the kernel commandline), Xorg.log and xrandr.
Requested files are added to launchpad to keep al files together. Please let me know if you need more information.
The dmesg is from too late in the boot sequence, all the important information about the failure to read the VGA EDID is lost.
My mistake, I've included both the current en previous dmesg log on launchpad: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1074844
For clearity the last boot sequence was with a connected screen using a VGA cable.
Can you please also attach a dmesg with drm.debug=0xe from the old (working) kernel. Also, please attach all the files here, since it's a bit a pain to hunt down random files (more so when they lack descriptions of the test-setup, which we can't fix on other bugzillas ...). Apparently the VGA connector is simply not there ...
That is quite puzzling, even with bitbanging we fail to read the EDID. Can you please also grab a drm.debug=6 dmesg with ubuntu 12.04?
Ping for the requested debug info.
Timeout.
