I realise the summary is the same as 3 similar bugs, but my hardware is (slightly) different, and so I add this bug report. Error Msg: Error activating XKB configuration. Probably internal X server problem. X server version data: The X.Org Foundation 60700000 If you report this situation as a bug, please include: - The result of xprop -root | grep XKB - The result of gconftool-2 -R /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/xkb ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Data requested by the error message box: _XKB_RULES_NAMES_BACKUP(STRING) = "xfree86", "pc105", "us", "", "" _XKB_RULES_NAMES(STRING) = "xfree86", "pc105", "us", "", "" layouts = [us] model = pc105 overrideSettings = false options = [] My keyboard is a 125 key HP SK2506 'Internet Keyboard' (not including the volume control knob which produces seperate key codes for volume up and volume down) --which makes it really look like a 127 key keyboard. The error message came up running Fedora Core 2-test3 with Linux kernel 2.6.6-rc3-bk5.
does changing xfree86 to xorg in config files (on those xkb lines) change anything ?
