Description Lebochequirit 2013-01-28 19:51:35 UTC
Syncing with Owncloud does work via command line, but it's quite an effort and way beyond many users knowledge. Also, setting up auto-sync is much easier from within the GUI.

A predefined Owncloud Service would be of major use for many, many users. I'm sorry to say so, but the usability of Evolution and in parts Owncloud depends on you, as both platforms seem not to care about each other :-)

Thanks for your excellent work so far,

L.B.Q.R.

Is this syncing with Owncloud done via SyncML or CalDAV/CardDAV?

The GTK UI can only configure SyncML services, so adding a template for the service would not help much.

CalDAV/CardDAV that is.

As WebDAV is growing more and more important because of all the Google and Android Stuff and SyncML support is widely quirky or not developed in these branches, I'd suggest re-naming this feature request to "Add Cal/CardDAV to GUI".

After I have managed to get a Cal/CardDAV sync running with owncloud, I just need to know you the GUI triggers auto-sync. Is that via cron?

I agree that it is important. Unfortunately there is no GTK developer around at the moment who could take care of this.

For this to work reliably, the GTK UI should be extended to allow choosing the databases on the local and remote side. Just using the default will be easier, but isn't guaranteed to always do what the user wanted (might pick the wrong "default" remote side) and wouldn't support configuring multiple databases of the same kind.

No, the syncevo-dbus-server does that. It gets started via XDG autostart as part of the session startup, then keeps running when it detects a config with auto syncing.

It's not related to the bug any more, but: Can you give me a hint to enable auto-sync?

I have set it to 1 or http in several config.inis, but it still does not seem to work. Is there any documentation I've missed to read?

Thanks for the noob help,

Does it still apply now that Evolution Data Server picks the ownCloud accounts?

CalDAV/CardDAV support in EDS is completely independent from CalDAV/CardDAV support in SyncEvolution, so yes, the SyncEvolution issue #59985 is still open.
