When running the high quality Dragothic demo from 3D Mark 2001SE in Wine 0.9.9, the system locks up hard before the demo starts, but after the loading screen fades away (ie, at the black screen between the two). I cannot ssh into the system, it will hang indefinitely before asking for my password (but will not time out). Attempting to switch VTs or kill the X server with Ctrl+Alt+Backspace does nothing. If I was already sshed into the machine and running top before running the demo, top will continue to run and display Wine using up 100% CPU time. After exiting top, I will be returned to the bash prompt, but cannot execute any programs, as it will hang indefinitely after attempting to run one, much like when trying to login via ssh. The system must be powered off manually and then powered back on again before it can be used again. I suspect this to be a bug in the radeon driver and not Wine as it should not be possible for Wine (or any user process) to hard lock the system. Furthermore, this crash does not appear to happen with other video cards (NVidia cards at least). To reproduce: - run the standard benchmark test in 3D Mark 2001SE using Wine 0.9.9 Note that skipping directly to the high quality Dragothic test also produces the same crash. 3D Mark 2001 can be found here: http://madonion.com/download/?3dmark2001.shtml Also, very recent versions of Wine do not install 3D Mark 2001 correctly, you will need to use an older version (something around 0.9.3 should work), or copy the files over from a Windows install. Using: - Radeon 7500 - DRI CVS snapshot from 20051223 (installed through Portage) - Xorg 6.9

Seven years later... I can't really test this now, I don't have an X server on that machine anymore.
Then please close the bug.
