AFAIK, currently lipsync is tied to streaming and that is tied to compression, i-e if you disable compression, you disable streaming an lipsync. OTOH, on a local-only case (both server and client on the same machine), compression is undesirable. So it would be nice to be able to disable compression without disabling lipsync support. This is based on my understanding of what Alex told me. Please feel free to correct my assumptions above.

I think this will be naturally adressed once Spice starts streaming the desktop using a video codec, and probably using RTP/RTSP.
