Description porjo38 2013-03-13 10:13:35 UTC
Guest: Windows 7 Enterprise SP1, 32bit
Host: Fedora Core 18 x86_64
QXL driver: 0.1-16

Certain Windows applications have started experiencing repaint issues. This started occurring a couple of weeks ago after routine OS updates were applied on both host and guest. To my knowledge, no configuration changes have been made to qemu-kvm, or to the guest drivers.

Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 R2
--------------------------------------
When I type a message only the first 2 characters appear on the screen, yet when I resize the message window the whole message appears. This happens every time without exception.

Internet Explorer 9
-------------------
This is affected in various ways:
- loading new pages, sometimes the new page doesn't appear
- dynamic HTML, sometimes the element doesn't move as it should, either partially moving or not moving at all

It all cases, resizing the browser window causes the expected display state to appear. No display issues are seen if I use an alternative browser such as Firefox.

Switching from QXL to VGA driver fixes the repaint issues.

I've just run a batch of updates on the Win7 guest, including an update from IE9 to IE10, and now the repaint issue has gone.
