Created attachment 76491 [details] Just the start up of a database with forms illustrating the problem Building forms (Base): Selected wrap for field containing text. The text in the form view DOES NOT WRAP regardless of the size of the box containing the data; it renders the database unusable for both, data input or analysis.
Humberto, The odb file you attached does not contain a form, let alone on showing the incorrect behaviour. Did you intend to attach something else? Terry.
Created attachment 76615 [details] attachment-12664-0.html My apology. Yes, I intended to send you the preliminary db (Thesaurus01.odb) file. Let me attach it here. Also notice that the report wraps the text quite well. I have changed one ofe the boxes. All boxes were set to Text type: Single-line but it must be Text type: Multi-line After changing ths the text wraps at the end of the field. Tested with LO 3.3.4 and LO 4.0.2.1 - works under OpenSuSE 12.3 32bit rpm Linux.
Terrific! I guess the problem is that Office does not have a user manual. I understand the documentation: it is good, but is not enough. If you help me, and connect with the right people, my TXgroup team would be glad to produce the first tmED user manual for Office. There is no better promotion than a supper user manual to move Office into the hands of millions of users. More at www.tm-publisher.com. Let me know if you would like to do this. We could start a new era for Linux and Open Source applications. Thank you for clearing that up, Humberto. I understand from comment 5 that LibreOffice is behaving correctly, and I am changing the bug status accordingly.
Correct, it is not a software problem, it is a matter of user training. Documentation alone cannot do that. (In reply to comment #6) > Terrific! I guess the problem is that Office does not have a user > manual. Working for a manual in English is going on. At this moment some people are translating the German Base-Handbuch. You can get this manual here: http://de.libreoffice.org/hilfe-kontakt/handbuecher/ (scroll a little bit down) Best help for using base you can get in OpenOffice and LibreOffice-forum. There are separate threads only for Base. In Germany there the activity in the forum is good. You get an answer to you question only some hours later. Regards Robert
Well, I am very familiar with "documentation." The facts are that knowledge transfer, specifically via user manuals, are a great deal more sophisticated than documents. In the Space Station Program I proved that natural languages cannot transmit knowledge or experience. Myself and my group would be glad to work with the documentation gurus to create a tmED manual. Such a manual would open up millions of doors for Linux & Open Source.
