Example docx files showing incorrect font change from 12 to 16

When opening a Word document emailed to me (both produced and raed on Mac OSX) the text was basically correct except for font changes from size 12 to 16 at various positions. The font changes seem sporadic-- I have attached two examples: one occurred after an Endnote field, and the other on a change to bold text.

I have attached the .docx files (lo_bug_font[1,2].docx) and pdfs showing the correct output (lo_bug_font[1,2]_word.pdf)  and LibreOffice output (lo_bug_font[1,2]_lo.pdf).

The Word version the file was open on was:
Word 2008 for Mac
Version 12.3.1

and the LbreOffice version was:
Version 4.0.1.2 (Build ID: 84102822e3d61eb989ddd325abf1ac077904985)
TinderBox: MacOSX TDF Release, Branch:libreoffice-4-0, Time: 2013-02-27_17:15:43

Some additional information- I noticed for both examples that first saving the attached docx files as doc in Word and then opening in LO works correctly with no incorrect font changes, so this appears to be a specific bug with docx format.

reproducible with LO 4.0.1.2 (Win7 Home, 64bit)
In MSO 2007 the whole text has the font size 12.

For both test documents it is in LibreOffice Version: 4.4.0.0.alpha0+
Build ID: a82ff18269e5b37348d402b7c21c3f200068265c
TinderBox: Win-x86@39, Branch:master, Time: 2014-07-20_02:34:36 also 12pt.
