Hi, I have been trying to get X working on my IBM T60P. If I perform an Xorg -configure, I get a config file and a message about can't detect mouse. I then fix the mouse configuration manually and try to start X with that config file. X starts and the screen goes black with a properly sized mouse pointer on the screen. I can move the pointer around with the mouse, but other than that the X starts up no farther. Is it possible to modify the configuration file to make this work or is the driver incapable of operating my video hardware. My laptop has the ATI v5200 with 256MB ram. I am running FC5. Thanks for any help you can provide. Brian
Sadly are there no linux drivers (open-source or or ati's precompiled own ones) for your hardware. As of now you have to run the vesa drivers to atleast get something on the screen.

Hi, I have the same problem with the vesa driver. Blackscreen with movable mouse pointer. Is there anything I can continue to tinker with to get some kind of usable X ? Thanks, Brian
Sounds like the X server is running fine, but without any clients. How are you trying to start your X session?
