I can't load any suitable driver! I use gentoo's emerge so the build system should be ok. Gentoo folks confirmed that sis driver's problem is upstraem one so i'm opening bug report here also: sdr ~ # X -configure X Window System Version 7.0.0 Release Date: 21 December 2005 X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0, Release 7.0 Build Operating System:Linux 2.6.16-gentoo i686 Current Operating System: Linux sdr 2.6.16-gentoo #1 PREEMPT Fri Mar 24 00:11:53 EET 2006 i686 Build Date: 24 March 2006 Before reporting problems, check http://wiki.x.org to make sure that you have the latest version. Modular Xorg/X11R7 is "xorg" product in bugzilla - moving there.
Created attachment 6245 [details] Log from 'Xorg -configure' I'm seeing a similar problem, also with gentoo. If you think the "upstream" diagnosis that Stoian got is incorrect, I'd be happy to re-open the bug against gentoo with whatever additional info you can provide. I've compiled the following drivers, none of which want to load: fbdev mga v4l vesa vga. My video card is: # lspci | grep -i vga 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Matrox Graphics, Inc. MGA G550 AGP (rev 01) Please let me know if you need any additional information.
Is this still an issue with current releases?
I was able to get around this problem by upgrading to 7.1, so I'd say no.
Closing, please reopen if you're still seeing this.
