To reproduce this issue start L4D2, load any campaign, kill few zombies. It'll take less than a minute to GPU hang happen. Logs attached.

Linux 3.8.0-19

Mesa 9.1.1
xserver-xorg-video-radeon 7.1.0
Xserver 1.13.3
Kubuntu 13.04 x86_64

Hardware:
A8-3500M with Radeon HD 6620G.

This GPU lockup is also reproducible on Radeon HD 6650M.

Does setting the env var R600_HYPERZ=0 help?
If yes, an upgrade to mesa 9.1.2, where hyperz is disabled by default, should fix your issue.
