Description marckasten 2004-05-21 21:18:05 UTC
Running Fedora Core 2, X11-6.7.

After logging into X, I get an error pane:
##BEGIN##############
Error activating XKB configuration.
Probably internal X server problem.

X server version data:
The X.Org Foundation
60700000

If you report this situation as a bug, please include:
- The result of xprop -root | grep XKB
- The result of gconftool-2 -R /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/xkb
##END################
##BEGIN DIAG#########
[marc@Ursula marc]$ xprop -root | grep XKB
_XKB_RULES_NAMES_BACKUP(STRING) = "xfree86", "pc105", "us,il", ",",
"grp:lwin_switch,grp:shift_toggle,grp_led:scroll"
_XKB_RULES_NAMES(STRING) = "xfree86", "pc105", "us,il", "",
"grp:lwin_switch,grp:shift_toggle,grp_led:scroll"
[marc@Ursula marc]$ gconftool-2 -R /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/xkb
 layouts = [us,il]
 model = pc105
 overrideSettings = false
 options = []
[marc@Ursula marc]$
##END DIAG###########

Same error occurred before I changed the XF86Config to allow use of Hebrew data
entry and keyboard switching.

as it has been reported around 10 times for monolithic 'xorg', replace 'xfree86'
by 'xorg' in your xorg config file

bug #553 is a dupe of this one
see alsa #514, #514 & #544
(and a lot more in 'xorg')
