Test result:
----------------------------------------
workloads RC6 disable average_watt RC6 enable average_watt
idle 18.3 14.5
video 18.6 18.6

finding:
----------------------------------------
On the platform of HSW-ult, RC6 saved 3.8w when running idle, and saved 1.2w when running game, but did not save any power on video.
Comment 1 Daniel Vetter 2013-06-05 08:14:32 UTC
Can we have a detailed description of the video workload? Was libva used?
Comment 2 Liu Tienan 2013-06-05 08:31:28 UTC
We used libva, "mplayer -vo vaapi".
And this is our wiki "http://otcqa.sh.intel.com/qawiki/Graphics/Power-workloads", you can get more detailed information.

Idle curiosity, but what is the power saving between mplayer -vo xv and mplayer -vo vaapi -va vaapi?
Comment 4 Liu Tienan 2013-06-13 03:07:35 UTC
test result
---------------
mplayer -vo xv 19.6 Watt
mplayer -vo vaapi -va vaapi 18.7 Watt

And there is no picture on the screen when use "mplayer-vo xv"
