I'm running debian on a dual-opteron (amd64) with a self-compiled vanilla kernel (Linux vollzeit 2.6.15.3 #1 SMP PREEMPT Fri Feb 10 09:00:32 EST 2006 x86_64 GNU/Linux). starting with 6.9.0 (now Debian 6.9.0.dfsg.1-6 20060405004539) Xorg supports my Asus N6200/TD/128M card (AGP) which has a DVI and a VGA adapter. The card/driver work like a charme (besides some minor issues with the cursor in mozilla and friends). but today i wanted to run the thing in a dual-head setup (got a brand new widescreen tft). please forgive my stupidity if the card doesnt really support a dual-head setup but from what i can tell from the marketing webpages it should be able to do it. i can also not run the other OS for testing. i'll attach my xorg.conf which will make X crash on startup with a sig11 (log attached) as soon as the "Multihead layout" is activated. thanks for any advice.

Does it work with the properity nvidia driver?
I don't know. And to be honest, I'd rather not try. The combination of recent self-compiled kernel, SMP and PREEMPT in my experience do not mix well with the proprietary nvidia driver. If it really helps something, I could give it a try. But changes are that this crashes my machine (which is used by me and some co-workers) so I have to do this outside office hours. So, do I have to? :)
No, of course not. I was just trying to collect some additional information.
Created attachment 6177 [details] crash still present after Xorg update hi again. just in case enyone is interested: the crash is still present in Xorg 7.0.0 as it falls out of Debian sid. When 7.1 makes it into Debian, I will test again...
FYI: Debian just gave me a new X: X Window System Version 7.1.1 Release Date: 12 May 2006 X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0, Release 7.1.1 Build Operating System: UNKNOWN Current Operating System: Linux vollzeit 2.6.15.3 #4 SMP PREEMPT Sun Jul 9 20:51:12 CEST 2006 x86_64 Build Date: 07 July 2006 ...and the crash is gone. I still dont have dual-head but I assume this is a configuration issue. I'will play around with that before assuming a bug here.
