When start

Steps to reproduce:
1. Use DRM or X11 backend
2. Start compositor
or
2. Start compositor, any application eg weston-terminal
or
2. Use the compositor for a while 

Actual result:
Visual artifacts, the compositor crashes

Expected result:
No visual artifacts, the compositor runs

This is a kernel bug which has been fixed already in stable releases 3.8.13 and 3.9.2.
