With the old LibreOffice v.3.5.5, i had have saved old MS-Word 2000 files (.doc) into .odt format. No problems to open the .odt files in LO v.3.5.5.
Now, with the "new" LibreOffice v.4.0.4.2, i try to open the .odt files and always i get the "LibreOffice v.4.0.4.2 - General Error" Pop-Up. Okay, the document is loaded after i click on "OK", but it makes me nervous. That Error-Warning should not be there. I´m afraid, that later this file will be corrupted, and i loose my data.

Guenther: Could you please attach a sample file which this can be tested against? Otherwise it's very difficult to confirm this problem.

Hello James !
Nice that you answer so quick. I attach you a sample .odt-file, where
the error show up. And inside, there i also describe a next error with
this .odt problem.
If i save a MS-Word 2000 .doc file as an .odt-file format, a save-error
occur. And if i try to open the .odt-file, the open-error show up.

By the way, i deinstall the version 4.0.4.2 and install back again the
stable version 3.5.5. It´s too dangerous for me, to loose perhaps my data.

Thanks for your interest.
Guenther

Strange..I can open that ODT without any error message (LO 4.0.4.2 - Win7 32bit).

@Guenther, have you tried resetting user profile? Did you do fresh install while installing 4.0.4.2?

No error at all too, tested using Windows 8 and LibreOffice Version: 4.1.0.4

Hello @Jorendc,

solve.

Now, i have installed the newest version of LibreOffice 4.1.0.4 ! And
now, my reported bug, is no more longer there !!! I have no idea, why
you all didn´t have the same problems like me.

But so, you can CLOSE my Report, and thanks to all, who try to help me ;) :)

How about that? Did that after upgrading to 4.1.0.4?

Are you using Win7/8 ?
