It can't decode when using UXA.
Is it possible for you to record the error using a phone? I'm mostly interested in seeing what you mean by blurrly, and whether the error is temporary. Can you please provide a pointer to your test file? An internal link will be fine if necessary - it would be useful to include that external if we have the rights to do so.
Can you explain what exactly you are doing here? Playing back a 4k movie on a lower resolution screen, a 4k movie to a 4k screen, or a low resolution movie to a 4k screen?
And as always, attach the Xorg.0.log.

(In reply to comment #3) > And as always, attach the Xorg.0.log. You can find the 4kx4k movie at http://tinderbox/media/. the file name is "4K_StitchedH264.mov"
I had no problems playing the 4K_StitchedH264.mov on gm45/snb/ivb/hsw at a variety of screen resolutions, window sizes and desktop environments, all using SNA. I suspect your mplayer is broken.
Confirmed that this is an issue with the vaapi/mplayer build.
