Can you provide the /var/log/Xorg.0.log file from the system that is failing?

Comment 3 Chris Wilson 2013-08-06 12:00:32 UTC
UMS is not supported on Ironlake. Add "options i915 modeset=1" to /etc/modprobe.d/i915.conf
Comment 4 Appu 2013-08-06 12:53:11 UTC
I don't find the "i915.conf" as you mentioned in this path "/etc/modprobe.d"
these are the conf files in that directory...

alsa-base.conf, blacklist.conf, blacklist-modem.conf
blacklist-ath-pci.conf, blacklist-firewire.conf
blacklist-oss.conf, blacklist-bt.conf, blacklist-framebuffer.conf
blacklist-watchdog.conf
Comment 5 Chris Wilson 2013-08-06 13:00:39 UTC
So add the i915.conf...
Comment 6 Appu 2013-08-06 13:50:37 UTC
