Created attachment 89039 [details] current Xorg.0.log - without the ATI driver installed just in case this log is useful; currently doing a 24hour LibreOffice compile in a windows VM that I really don't want to interrupt under this X server; so ... can try re-installing the ATI driver as/when that's done and get a new Xorg.0.log for you.
