A user has reported that PCI ID 10DE:0184 works with the "nv" driver on Macintosh, but the driver is unaware of this chip currently. This is true in Xorg 7.0 and 7.1. The ID is not present on pciids.sf.net either. My assumption is that this is a custom chip made for Apple or somesuch, which never had high volume, and is thus fairly unknown, but which just happens to work. If Nvidia could confirm this, and provide a patch to the "nv" driver to add formal support for it, or to provide the proper chip naming for someone else to add it, that would be appreciated. TIA
Aaron, can you comment on this?
It appears to be some type of "nVidia GeForce4 MX", but that's a guess.
I can't find any information about this chip, so I wouldn't feel comfortable adding it to the officially supported list. Given that you say the driver works, I'm going to mark this bug WONTFIX. Feel free to file new bugs if you have functionality problems with this card.
