one of the cvs file that fail to synchronize

When in calc I do Insert -> link to external data, I can open a csv file, and get a Text Import window, in which I can see the content of the file. When I click on OK, the External data windows show the file name with its path, but nothing is available and the OK button does not work.

This make calc absolutely unusable, as I cannot even import my data. If I import the same files with File -> Open, it work, but the data are not synchronized, which is not what I want to do.

This is on gentoo amd64, with libreoffice 4.1.4.2. This was allready the same issue with 4.1.3.x. Before that, I don't know.

Hi Dominique, thanks for reporting.

Link to external data is mainly for use with html files in the web.

To link a CSV file use one of the other option:
Menu/Insert/Sheet
Menu/Insert/Sheet for file.
where you can set up the import options, and if the file must be linked or not.

Please do a try, and inform if this works for you. I use it daily and works fine for me.

Hi Mario,

In the meantime, I find the option Menu/Insert/Sheet from file you are talking about. And it did work. Thank you.

But I also find another issue. When I try to do the same with base, I can create a new read only sheet by importing from the csv file, and when I try to copy that sheet to get a read/write base, the whole software just freeze. So, that's maybe a gentoo specific issue like a missing file or a file with wrong permission.

Do you think I should report that here or on gentoo?

That's strange, because with 4.1.4.2, when I choose to create a base by linking to an external base, I cannot select any more my .csv files.

This was with 4.1.3.x that was freezing.

Hi Dominique,

please open a new bug for the base issue, or if you can previously post you question in
ask.libreoffice.org
or in Maling List

I think by your answer we can set this one as NOTABUG, please if you are not agree reopen it.
