Description Ryan Underwood 2006-07-09 15:06:25 UTC
Hi,

Since moving to Xorg on one machine (7.0.22), I have this bug. In
/etc/X0.hosts:
local:

When I check the access list it shows:
$ xhost
access control enabled, only authorized clients can connect
LOCAL:

However, a different user with DISPLAY=:0 cannot connect to the server.

If I then
$ xhost local:
non-network local connections being added to access control list

xhost shows the same output

$ xhost
access control enabled, only authorized clients can connect
LOCAL:

But then the different user can connect to the server.

This setup worked for XFree86 4.3.0. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong or
not.

Has anyone looked at this? Is /etc/Xn.hosts still the correct way to
accomplish this?
Comment 2 Alan Coopersmith 2006-08-03 12:31:43 UTC
Yes, /etc/Xn.hosts is still supposed to work and is the only way the X server
provides to initialize the host access list. I fixed a bug here a few releases
back, but haven't had a chance to look into this report yet.

Sorry about the phenomenal bug spam, guys. Adding xorg-team@ to the QA contact so bugs don't get lost in future.
