I use gentoo and the latest version of xorg won't start. I reported it to the gentoo bugzilla and was told to report it here. The link to the original bug report (well, the intresting message) is http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=132277#c4 It's a Pentium D 850, running in 64 bit mode, using gcc 4.1.1 (but IIRC when I first reported the error I was running 3.4). Kernel at the moment is stock 2.6.18-rc2, but the same happens with 2.6.17 (again, maybe when I reported it was 2.6.16, it's been a long time). I don't have any fancy CFLAGS or anything like that. More system information is listed in the gentoo bug. Here's a brief review: I've got an Intel 945G video card, which uses i810 driver. If I try to upgrade xorg from xorg-server 1.0.2-r7 and xf86-video-i810 1.4.1.3 to 1.1.1 or 1.6.0, it won't start, showing the following: [...] (II) I810(0): Activating tiled memory for the back buffer. (II) I810(0): Activating tiled memory for the depth buffer. Get gentoo to upgrade to 1.6.1 of xf86-video-intel.
