Description How can I remove my account? 2014-04-10 06:15:23 UTC
Insert an animated GIF in a Writer document. Watch the weirdness. Does not seem to happen on Linux, so don't bother trying to reproduce on Linux.

In case the bug depends on how complex the animated GIF is, it happens at least for the one I now added to the odk/examples/java/DocumentHandling/test/test1.odt document.
Operating System: Mac OS X
Version: 4.2.2.1 release
Comment 1 retired 2014-04-10 14:07:08 UTC
Tor, not sure where to find that test file. Could you attach it?

It's in the LibreOffice source code. But did you try at all with *any* animated GIF? Only if the problem is not reproducible with any random animated GIF might it be worth it to try that test doc... I say so in the initial comment.
Comment 3 retired 2014-04-13 10:52:45 UTC
4.2.3: gif adds fine, then only displays the first image, wait, wait some more, then gif is played animated just fine.

latest nightly: gif plays instantly.

test case attached.

Tor, what do you think? WORKSFORME? Did you try with latest nightly? Please re-open if you disagree and add more detail.

writer file, working gif animation
Comment 5 How can I remove my account? 2014-04-13 10:56:06 UTC
I build LibreOffice myself of course, no need for me to use nightlies.
Comment 6 retired 2014-04-13 12:30:47 UTC
And with your own build, do animated gifs work fine?
Comment 7 How can I remove my account? 2014-04-13 13:44:27 UTC
If they would, I wouldn't have filed this bug, would I?
Comment 8 How can I remove my account? 2015-01-25 08:12:18 UTC
Does not work for me. LibreOffice 4.3.4.1 from TDF displays the rotating globe in the mentioned document quite wrong. This is on OS X 10.10.

Test case with non-working gif
Comment 10 eisa01 2016-09-10 20:10:35 UTC
I can reproduce this bug with the attached non-working test case on macOS 10.11.6 and LO 5.2.1.2. Test case uses the same gif as the bug reporter, but I cleaned the document to only contain the gif and some text.

First frame looks normal, but then it seems like only the changes between frames is shown. Instead it seems to show part of the page itself.

The attached working gif animation test case works fine however.

Still present, and in 3.3

Double checked that this works in Impress, as such I would set this to minor as very few Writer docs will have this issue

There is no clear description of what to expect for the non-working gif, thus adding a screenshot of expected and unexpected state for easier testing.

the globe spins in the ODT document when opened in Writer in the default opening position.

However, if I scroll down with the touchpad (2-finger scroll), I see part of the bottom toolbar displayed underneath a now transparent globe, with only parts of the landmasses filled in as the globe rotates, cf. attached screen capture.
