Created attachment 97999 [details] dmesg log output I recently upgrade an Ubuntu 12.04 server OS to Ubuntu 14.04 server, kernel 3.13. My machine began locking up during SSH sessions; sometime it'd unlock and others I just had to hard reboot the computer. I was able to get a dmesg output that mentioned nouveau_therm_fan_set quite a bit (forgive me if I'm reading the dump incorrectly). I wasn't having any trouble on 3.2 or 3.8 kernels, and I have done a clean install of 14.04 server with the same problem. Output from dmesg of the trace on a clean install is attached.
I believe this should be fixed in commit 61679fe153b2b9ea5b5e2ab93305419e85e99a9d. Can you check 3.15-rc2?
Thanks, I'll check it out today and post back my results.
So far so good. I'll let the machine run the rest of the day and mark this resolved if no more problems show up. Thanks again.
Upgrading to kernel 3.15-rc2 took care of this issue for me.
