XOrg log

Hello!

After some time of work screen goes dark, than blinks and than hangs (picture stands still with no changes and no reaction on keyboard or mouse, numlock isn't working).

# uname -a
Linux 3.15.2-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Fri Jun 27 07:41:19 CEST 2014 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Mesa: 10.2.2-1

I have no specific options for radeon in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/*.

XOrg.log end with messages like:

(EE) [mi] EQ overflowing. Additional events will be discarded until existing events are processed.

Do the kernel patches from http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/dri-devel/2014-June/062305.html help?

I've got a similar issue where one of 3 outcomes can happen:

* The picture goes black and no sound can be heard.
* The picture goes corrupted colours (stripy) and sound cannot be heard.
* The picture freezes in place and sound can be heard.

On Linux kernel 3.16rc4 with mesa git commit f55e9a7 using RadeonSI.

Sorry, I didn't have time to test commits you suggested, but I noticed that this hangs occurs in my case _only_ when I have video player running alongside with Windows 7 in Virtual Box (VLC for the media player with hardware acceleration disabled, latest version of virtual box from official repository with 3d acceleration disabled and 2d acceleration enabled for the guest and guest additions installed on windows guest, host Arch system has both kernel and its modules from stock).

Xorg.log

Hello.

I upgraded my videocard to HD7770 recently, and found this annoying hangs. Just like described: "after some time of work screen goes dark, than blinks and than hangs (picture stands still with no changes and no reaction on keyboard or mouse, numlock isn't working)." I can add that the monitor draws "no signal" message, than finds that signal, makes autoconfig and nothing happens than.

The most of such a hangs happened when I played "Heroes of The Storm". The last 3-4 times I tried to enter game system freezed. But as it seems for me, the training games are works fine. Maybe it not relevant information, but just for case.
The system becomes unusable, acpid don't respond on power button, the only way out of it is reset button.

And one time right now system *almost* died when I clicked at link in firefox. Almost. All looks the same: screen goes dark, than lit again, but I successfully switched to first virtual terminal with C-M-F1 and see there something like "failed to allocate virtual address for buffer" and some more lines. But I was stupid and the next thing I done was C-M-F7. System died.

Closing as there have been no further reports of these issues in this bug please reopen if this is still a problem with a recent Mesa stack.
