When running "make clean" in the xdg-utils tree, it executes the tests-clean and tests-userclean targets in the tests/ directory. These targets search through one's home directory and some directories in /usr, which is not really what one expects when running "make clean". It takes quite some time on my system. I know it makes sense after running the testsuite, but I don't think it should be a default action for cleaning.
Fixed for beta4
