The attached document takes around 30 seconds to re-render, each time you change the window size in Evince.

I consider the document successfully "re-rendered" when
- The text is sharp again
- Evince's UI is responsive

Doesn't seem Cairo specific, both Splash and Cairo take around 7s here to render the thing.
Comment 2 Jean-François Fortin Tam 2014-11-04 15:11:50 UTC
7 seconds? Wow, it's much higher here on a Core2 Quad Q9300 (around 30+ seconds). Maybe because Evince shows up as a small window with this thing initially, and then I size it up to fill my 1920x1080 screen?
Comment 3 Albert Astals Cid 2014-11-04 18:10:22 UTC
Jean-François rendering time obviously depends on resolution, 7 seconds is what poppler test tools take at the "default" resolution in my i7-2670QM

Also, evince does more than just re-render the page. I think it does the equivalent of `pdftotext' a couple times when the page is resized.
