Description J Peery 2014-11-05 20:06:34 UTC
During normal use the mouse will stop rendering, typically with Chrome running and I suspect Flash. From dmesg:
[23226.816014] [drm] stuck on render ring
[23226.816027] [drm] GPU crash dump saved to /sys/class/drm/card0/error
[23226.816029] [drm] GPU hangs can indicate a bug anywhere in the entire gfx stack, including userspace.
[23226.816035] [drm] Please file a _new_ bug report on bugs.freedesktop.org against DRI -> DRM/Intel
[23226.816040] [drm] drm/i915 developers can then reassign to the right component if it's not a kernel issue.
[23226.816045] [drm] The gpu crash dump is required to analyze gpu hangs, so please always attach it.
[23226.816787] [drm:i915_set_reset_status] *ERROR* render ring hung inside bo (0x14b60000 ctx 0) at 0x14b60c2c
[23227.200015] [drm] GMBUS [i915 gmbus vga] timed out, falling back to bit banging on pin 2
[23227.328023] [drm:i915_reset] *ERROR* Failed to reset chip.
/sys/class/drm/card0/error only says:
"no error state collected"
Comment 1 Chris Wilson 2014-11-05 20:10:19 UTC
You have to capture the error state before rebooting the machine - it only lasts whilst the machine is up.
Comment 2 J Peery 2014-11-05 20:29:09 UTC
Duh, sorry, I should have known that. Will send dump when it happens again.

My Bad,
JP
