Description of problem: I tried to start Fedora 20 KDE spin, but after livecd boot I got an unexpected behaviour, identical to the screenshot of bugreport https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=84739 with the only difference that I started KDE instead of LXDE. I tried to boot the livecd in basic video mode bug the result is the same. # lspci | grep VGA 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03) I am going to attach Xorg.0.log and dmesg of the following kernel boot options: - "normal boot" - nomodeset - drm.debug=6
Created attachment 109407 [details] normal boot: dmesg
Created attachment 109408 [details] normal boot: Xorg.0.log
Created attachment 109410 [details] drm.debug=6 : dmesg
Created attachment 109411 [details] drm.debug=6 : Xorg.0.log
Created attachment 109412 [details] nomodeset: dmesg
Created attachment 109413 [details] nomodeset: Xorg.0.log
The problem in this case is that plasma-desktop dies after running out of memory (completely exhausts RAM + swap). I don't think there is a driver bug (unless you are sure it is a driver memory leak).
You are right. Indeed I tried to start LXDE and it starts flawlessly... I think we can close the bugreport
Feel free to reopen if you find anything suspicious in how KDE behaves.
