The "Insert special character" dialog, with the offending button circled.

The rightmost button in the "Insert special character" dialog is currently labeled "Delete".

From a user experience perspective, this is a very misleading name:

 - There's already a button labeled "Delete Last". The relationship between this button and that one is unclear.
 - The button's action -- clear all the characters in the "queue" -- is not obvious at all from its label.

Therefore, its name should be changed to "Clear All" or just "Clear".

Those buttons were removed in 4.4.

For completeness, this is how the dialog looks in 4.4: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/images/4/43/4.4_Simplification_of_Writer_special_character_dialog.png
