After getting the system to a sane state post boot on a macbook pro 8,2, with the DIS connected, IGD disconnected and off, turning on the IGD then performing a switch fails with:

kernel: vga_switcheroo: client 0 refused switch.

No X server was running at the time, only TTY.

The dmesg output is attached.

Some hybrid has certain outputs directly associated with only one or other gpu.
This seems to be the case here.

Could you please attach dmesg (booted with drm.debug=0xe) and Xorg.0.log as well.

Please use a recent kernel. Preferably drm-intel-nightly branch from cgit.freedesktop.org/drm-intel
