run xinit and switch console with Ctrl+fn+alt+F2, then switch back with alt+F1, you will see the message below. And seems the xinit is not running.

Ctrl-alt-F7 sometimes looks fine. But this issue also happens sometimes.

On this system, X is on VT 7. So the test sequence should be chvt 2; chvt 7:

"run xinit and switch console with Ctrl+fn+alt+F2, then switch back with alt+F7"

I made a mistake that I didn't know the right way to back to X. Close.
