Description Aaditya Bagga 2015-04-10 13:18:18 UTC
Hi,

I had earlier reported it to bugzilla.kernel.org, but with more testing I think its due to Xorg.

The problem I am facing is that whenever I switch to a tty, the brightness turns to maximum, but after going back to X11 it returns to its normal value.

This also happens when I do 'switch user' operation using my display manager (checked with lxdm and lightdm).

My hardware is a laptop with integrated Intel HD 4000 graphics, more details available here: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=91361

I was able to reproduce it with three distros, Slackware, Manjaro, and Ubuntu, with Kernels 3.16 and 3.18, and Xorg >= 1.15.x

With Slackware this started occuring when I updated Xorg from 1.14.3 to 1.15.2: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=91361#c8

Regards,
Aaditya

After recent updates in Slackware-current, xorg-server got updated to version 1.16.4, and I no longer seem to be having this issue, hence closing.
