dmesg log

==System Environment==
--------------------------
HDMI monitor: ASUS VS239HR
BIOS: V59
Regression: No. This issue happens with V49 BIOS.

Non-working platforms: BSW

==kernel==
--------------------------
-testing: drm-intel-testing-2015-04-23 (fails)

==Bug detailed description==
-----------------------------
After system boots, dmesg shows floods of hotplug events:

[    2.430657] [drm:intel_hpd_irq_handler] hotplug event received, stat 0x00000040, dig 0x00000000
[    2.431178] [drm:intel_hpd_irq_handler] hotplug event received, stat 0x00000040, dig 0x00000000
[    2.431718] [drm:intel_hpd_irq_handler] hotplug event received, stat 0x00000040, dig 0x00000000
......

I first saw this issue since the BIOS upgraded to V49, not sure it's a BIOS issue or kernel issue. Submit this issue for reference.

==Reproduce steps==
----------------------------
1. boot BSW
2. dmesg |grep hotplug
[    2.430657] [drm:intel_hpd_irq_handler] hotplug event received, stat 0x00000040, dig 0x00000000
......

Hotplug irqs from eDP, I vaguely recall Ville fighting with something like this on BSW.
Comment 2 Ville Syrjala 2015-04-29 09:13:13 UTC
Update the BIOS to >= V61.
Comment 3 Jeff Zheng 2015-04-29 09:44:26 UTC
Yes. Ville first found out this issue.

Ville, I vaguely remember that V61.3 also has this issue.

Since my test machine has an issue that eDP is black with DP monitor connected for V61.3 and V68.1 BIOS, I downgraded BIOS to V59 for testing.

No one cares if you use a known broken BIOS.
Comment 6 Ander Conselvan de Oliveira 2015-05-12 10:40:47 UTC
Please reopen if the problem is present with a newer BIOS.

dmesg on BIOS V69

Upgraded to V69, and there are still many hotplug events
Comment 8 Jeff Zheng 2015-05-25 08:06:37 UTC
Don't see this issue on drm-intel-testing-2015-05-22 + V69. Close.
Comment 9 Elizabeth 2017-10-06 14:30:14 UTC
Closing old verified.
