Created attachment 116495 [details] Kernel log Occurs with the latest versions of Arch (linux 4.0.5, linux 3.19.3), Ubuntu, Debian (linux 3.16) (all built today). Dualbooting with Windows 8, which starts up fine. Samsung NP680Z5E-X01FR Intel Core i5 3230M Display controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Venus XT [Radeon HD 8870M / R9 M270X] Booting without any kernel options results in a blank screen, but I can log into the console blind, run commands, reboot. The blank screen actually comes after some dmesg log text (past udev and some more). Adding MODULES="intel_agp i915" to the kernel causes the screen to go blank much earlier. Disabling KMS makes some things work but is not satisfactory. I am stuck with a 800x600 resolution on a 1366x768 screen (though under some circumstances I have found it corrected), and am kinda missing out on the available graphics hardware. I added the Radeon GPU in the hardware description but it seems the fault comes from the on-board graphics card in the intel CPU.
HDMI and VGA are working. My laptop has a touchscreen, which seems to be mentioned in the kernel log at hid-generic 0003:03EB:8816.0002: hiddev0,hidraw0: USB HID v1.11 Device [Atmel Atmel maXTouch Digitizer] on usb-0000:00:1a.0-1.5/input1]
Please add drm.debug=0xe to your kernel command line and attach the output of dmesg.

Chris Wilson, thank you, it works! Actually, the kernel sources I got contained "GMBUS_PORT_PANEL" instead of "GMBUS_PIN_PANEL". Replacing one with the other did the trick though, or was I wrong to do that? I'll mark this as fixed.
Careful, this disappeared from my buglist because you marked it as fixed! I haven't even sent the patch upstream yet, let alone get into the kernel...
