if i boot with 'nouveau.debug=debug', VDPAU works flawlessly for all supported codecs. however, if i boot without it and try to play any video with VDPAU, my system slows down to a crawl. if i take too long to stop playback or to kill the offending program, i lose control of the system and i am forced to reboot. i haven't experimented with other kernel parameters yet. any suggestions ? GeForce 210 mesa 10.5.7 kernel 4.0.5
Is this a recent regression, or is this the first time you're trying it?
the ctime on my firmware files is January 11, 2015, so it was around that time that i first got VDPAU to "work". nothing has changed since then, the behaviour is exactly the same.
Created attachment 116965 [details] dmesg output (no debug parameter)
i don't know if this is useful, but here is the difference in run times for debug on vs off, for a short mpeg2 video: off (many dropped frames): > time mplayer grb_2.mpg real 0m40.529s user 0m8.172s sys 0m2.507s on: > time mplayer grb_2.mpg real 0m32.866s user 0m1.031s sys 0m0.374s i managed to play the full video with debug off without causing the system to become unresponsive.
