Description Vincent Lefevre 2015-07-15 23:34:23 UTC
When "xset dpms force on" is executed, the screen blinks: it becomes black for a fraction of second (this may be visible on the whole screen or just at the bottom part).

This is particularly annoying because it is executed by VLC every 30 seconds via "xdg-screensaver reset" when playing videos.

How is the relevant screen connected? What GPU is this? (Looking for a GKxxx type code.)

Do you also get a blink when you just run 'xrandr'?

This is a HP ZBook 15 G2 laptop with its screen (no external monitor).

> What GPU is this? (Looking for a GKxxx type code.)

lspci gives:

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GK208GLM [Quadro K610M] (rev a1)

And from the dmesg saved in another bug report:

[ 14.178208] nouveau [ DEVICE][0000:01:00.0] Chipset: GK208 (NV108)

> Do you also get a blink when you just run 'xrandr'?

No.
