Right now the firmware shipped in <https://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/firmware/linux-firmware.git/tree/radeon> is older, than what is available from <https://secure.freedesktop.org/~agd5f/radeon_ucode/>. Please consider submitting the most recent firmware files to the linux-firmware repository. For example, the most recent hawaii_ce.bin (<https://secure.freedesktop.org/~agd5f/radeon_ucode/hawaii/hawaii_ce.bin>) is from 2015-06-10, while the linux-firmware repository saw the last update on 2014-08-20 (merge was seven days later). As a MD5 comparison shows, these are not the same files: 9e05820da42549ce9c89d147cf1f8e19 linux-firmware/hawaii_ce.bin 286640da3d90d7b51bdb038b65addc47 p.fd.o/~agd5f/hawaii_ce.bin This update would allow me (and others) to drop custom "update" directories from /lib/firmware as distributions would pick them up. Which in turn would ease testing of new Kernels and Mesa revisions.
Ping. There has been a further round of firmware updates on 2015-10-16.
