Description Patrick Welche 2015-09-10 14:59:42 UTC
Trying an openSUSE 13.2 GNOME Live image on:

cpu0: "Intel(R) Atom(TM) CPU D525 @ 1.80GHz"
    Vendor Name: Intel (0x8086)
Device Name: Pineview Integrated Graphics Device (0xa001)
xf86-video-intel 2.99.916 (I think that is what openSUSE 13.2 uses)
Monitor: iiyama ProLite E2407HDS

I see:

Loading Linux Kernel
...
Raw EDID:
00 ff ff ff ff ff ff ff 00 3f ff ff ff ff ff ff ff
...(fffffff...)
[drm:drm_edid_blockvalid] *ERROR* EDID checksum is invalid, remainder is 194

Then the system reboots.

Same monitor plugged into a

cpu0: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2520M CPU @ 2.50GHz, id 0x206a7
    Vendor Name: Intel (0x8086)
Device Name: Sandy Bridge Integrated Graphics Device (0x0126)

reads the EDID successfully

Comment 2 Jani Nikula 2015-09-11 12:07:04 UTC
Please attach dmesg with drm.debug=14 module parameter set. That may require some effort if the system spontaneously reboots and you can only reproduce on a live image, but there isn't much we can do without.
Comment 3 Jani Nikula 2016-06-17 15:49:00 UTC
Timeout, closing. Please reopen if the problem persists with latest kernels.
Comment 4 Jari Tahvanainen 2016-10-07 11:51:35 UTC
Closing after 2 months of timeout.
