Description John Hughes 2015-10-24 16:23:05 UTC
With kernel 4.2.3 attempting to set an external HDMI monitor as the primary screen in Gnome (function/F7 or from tools menu) moves the display to the external monitor but gnome stops responding.

dmesg shows:

Comment 1 John Hughes 2015-10-24 16:33:43 UTC
After some time the screensaver kicked in, and now I've got the internal and external displays mirrored.

The journal shows:

Is this a regression, i.e. did it work with some older kernel? Which version worked?

It used to work around kernel 2.6.?

I first started having problems with 3.16 (see https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92411)

With 4.2.3 things are working a lot better, but I still run into these stuck pipe problems from time to time.

We seem to have neglected the bug a bit, apologies.

John Hughes, since There were improvements pushed in kernel that will benefit to your system, so please re-test with latest kernel and mark as REOPENED if you can reproduce (and attach fresh kernel log) and RESOLVED/* if you cannot reproduce.

Timeout - assuming resolved+fixed.

If problem still persist with the latest kernels (preferable drm-tip from git://anongit.freedesktop.org/git/drm-tip), reopen this bug with latest logs as attachments.
