When using multi-desktop on weston, one really doesn't know which desktop one is at. It would be good to add on the toolbar, or somehow on top of the wallpaper (conky like) the desktop number one is at.

Also, there's no way to customize the keys to move across the different desktops. Currently only the up and down keys are used, but I would like to use instead the left and right ones.

As well, I'd like to be able to access the desktop in a circular manner. Meaning that if I'm in the highest desktop, then I go up one more and get to the lowest, or if I'm in the lowest desktop and I go down one more, then I get to the highest. This is a pretty convenient way to move.

I think Weston upstream might be going the opposite direction, as per our agreed scope of the Weston project: being a friendly DE is a non-goal. That's why I think this probably won't be implemented in upstream Weston.

The idea is to try and get libweston up to a usable state, and then third party compositors based on libweston can provide a friendly DE.

I believe it is more likely that we actually remove the multiple workspaces feature from Weston than enhance it. We are already taking steps in that direction:

Closing per Pekka's comment, though it would be possible to build a more complete desktop environment using libweston.
