Due to Apple's interesting way of initializing the storage on their new iPod Nano series, the vfat partition is detected as a Via RAID volume, which clearly is not right.. This in turn means that nothing happens when plugging it in, since gnome-volume-manager won't touch raid members. The patch adds an extra checksum check to the detection code and hence fixes the issue. Patch is on the Ubuntu bug report at http://librarian.launchpad.net/4838850/via-raid-fix.debdiff Thanks! pitti
Could you please checkout this patch/fix from the following thread? http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/hal/2006-October/006406.html
Since the code moved to udev now, and the current udev version has the patch applied, I close this now. Thank you!
