Hello, I have a 3g device Huawei E1752. It works fine on Linux Mint Cinnamon 16/17/17.1 and 17.2. On Mint Cinnamon 17.3, the device is not detected when plugged on reboot. On Ubuntu gnome 15.10: Network manager does not ask for PIN code, yet I configure the connection but the broadband section in network manager applet displays: "Broadband unavailable". On Ubuntu gnome 14.04.3: It has the same behaviour as 15.10 but the applet displays: "Broadband Off". This is also applied to OpenSuse leap 42.1 Gnome and Arch Linux with gnome. The device works on KDE environments (Kubuntu 15.10 and OpenSuse leap 42.1 KDE). Thank you very much.
Workaround: It seems that deactivating PIN authentication (Using Windows in my case) solved the problem.
There are 2 ways to handle PIN unlocking: * Setup the PIN in the network manager connection settings. When the connection is activated in NM, the PIN will get unlocked. * Have your shell or some other system perform the PIN unlocking procedure. In older GNOMEs, the network-manager-applet would take care of this for you. In newer GNOMEs, this process is no longer done by gnome-shell. Update: There is a little problem with Arch. In fact, 3g internet access halts after few seconds of successful connection. Another user had the same trouble which has been manager by switching to netctl/wvdial https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=206765 (Not sure though if it is a problem related to arch or Modem Manager + Network Manager) Thanks.
