Created attachment 120755 [details] Icon words display Hi, I'm a new user in Mac. Recently, I have to do my work in school server, and I use the ssh -X command in Mac terminal. I found that when I open the gedit, there are some display problems on the icons. The words near the icon all become squares. Therefore I try use ssh command in your terminal, and this problem disappear. Can I fixed this problems? Thanks
I don't quite understand what you are reporting. Can you please clarify? Can you provide screenshots of your issue? What version of gedit are you seeing problems with?
Created attachment 120757 [details] That's it
I have already upload the screenshot. Well, i don't know the version. sorry for reporting not clearly. Mac has its own terminal program. If I use it to ssh connect to the server, some program(like gedit) have this problem(as screenshot). But if I use your xquartz terminal to connect, the problem disappear. I just want to know how to fix it. Thanks. (Upload again)
Ok, that's not a bug in XQuartz. Looks like a font issue.

Thanks for your replying. I have add tow screenshots. First, I think it is a font issue. However, I can use xquartz terminal to get correct display. So, I'm confused that whatever terminal I used, when I use a X-app(like gedit), it will open at xquartz window(as attachment). So, what's the difference resulting in such errors. Thanks, and Happy New Year.
Please remember to set the mime type appropriately. By "XQuartz Terminal," I suspect you mean xterm. It's likely not anything related to the terminal so much as the differences in the environment between the two.
Well, how can I set the mine type, sorry for bothering again
It's the "Content Type:" field when you in the "Add an attachment" form.
Sorry for that, i didn't notice it. So, I have no method to set the display correct , right?
