Description Henning W 2016-03-07 23:27:21 UTC
I would like to add the Bone[1] layout to xkeyboard-config. This layout was created by a few members of the Neo community in the search of a smarter layout with the help of optimizer scripts. A rough estimation of users would be in the mid hundreds (even though there is the chicken egg problem present). I have received the webserver statistics that show a few hundred downloads in just the last year[2].

Currently I have added Bone in two variants (just ß and q switched) and the classical qwertz/qwerty with the higher layers of Neo/Bone/etc. I plan to also add Greek and Cyrillic versions, if you are open to also add them. I am not yet sure, if I should use the updated question mark and exclamation mark version in qwerty/z(/Greek/Cyrillic), also there is also at least one person who uses Bone that does not like that. You can find the current state in my github repo, based on master [3]. But I am sure that these things will get sorted out quickly before the next release.

If you have any objection to adding one of the layouts, please let me know so I can change the files in my repo. I can make an extra branch that you can pull, if you'd like to have one. I filed this early to let people know in advance in case of objections (and for translations of the keyboard names?).

Everything is sorted out now and I stashed the commits into one. 918d5c5 is the final version. diff based on master[1]

For the Greek/Cyrillic versions I prefer to wait until I get a notice, weather this could be added to mainline or not. I would have to look for someone, who uses a normal Greek/Cyrillic keyboard layout and is willing to test too.
