After some minutes (say, 5 minutes to 30) the gtk decorator crashes. If I start it manually on the console it will crash again after some time, giving teh following output: $ gtk-window-decorator The program 'gtk-window-decorator' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadLength (poly request too large or internal Xlib length erro'. (Details: serial 107348 error_code 16 request_code 154 minor_code 34) (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously; that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it. To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)
I now dissabled the metacity theme support and compiz seems to run much more stable, in fact, I cannot reproduce the crash with compiz' build-in window deco.
Hi Michael, Can you provide a backtrace of the crash? More info is here: http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/compiz/2006-December/001068.html Thanks,
I changed back to the metacity decorator a few days ago and didn't see any crashes since then. Perhaps it has been fixed already. If I see the crash again i'll try to provide the needed info.
Yes this seems to be fix since 30.12. At least here it works great with the latest version.
