Xorg.0.log after the crash

Running either the Unity3D engine (as part of a game) or the editor (creating a game) in a recent Unity 5 version results in constant crashes.

The Xorg log contains messages like this one: "[ 1471.242] (WW) xf86CloseConsole: KDSETMODE failed: Input/output error"

I have also noticed that all of the TTYs seem to randomly stop working which I guess might be connected - I can still switch to them but I'm seeing the boot text in wrong yellow colors stuck and no actual login.

The unity version I used for this 5.3.4f1 which isn't free software but can be obtained gratis from here: http://forum.unity3d.com/threads/unity-on-linux-release-notes-and-known-issues.350256/#post-2559296

The crashes seem to be mainly caused by the editor but at least once running the game test seems to have caused it for me as well.

The crashes happen regularly after 2-3 hours of editor usage.

The crashes seem to often coincide with the lightmapping baking process in the Unity editor having started a few seconds ago.
