If I turn off and on my monitor while the system is running (X running): 1) mouse/keyboard are slowed down noticeably for a couple of seconds. After that all become OK. 2) sometimes I got errors from the drm driver: [267751.865095] [drm:intel_dp_link_training_clock_recovery] *ERROR* failed to enable link training [267751.870784] [drm:intel_dp_start_link_train] *ERROR* failed to start channel equalization [267757.497419] [drm:intel_set_cpu_fifo_underrun_reporting] *ERROR* uncleared fifo underrun on pipe A [267757.497424] [drm:ironlake_irq_handler] *ERROR* CPU pipe A FIFO underrun This happens since I have a new monitor (philips bdm3270 attached via DP - the older was DVI). With kernel 4.4, it also happened (rarely) that video didn't come back after monitor power on (and with HDMI it seemed to happen even more frequently). I had to switch to a console VT, then video came up, but restarting X was still required. Not happened yet with kernel 4.5.2, but I updated too recently to say. Never tested with older kernels. If you _really_ need testing with drm-intel-nightly, please let me know, and I will try to schedule a reboot for this machine (but I can only check if the error comes up doing few on-off cycles; I can't let this machine run an unstable kernel any longer to confirm it never shows up). Steps to reproduce: 1) boot the PC up to x graphic session with monitor ON. 2) switch off the monitor 3) switch on the monitor xrandr --verbose Screen 0: minimum 8 x 8, current 2560 x 1440, maximum Is this still issue with latest kernel?
(In reply to Jani Saarinen from comment #1) > Is this still issue with latest kernel? I didn't hit it anymore (now running a 4.8.4), so it seems fixed.
